Meet the Staff

Dr. Charles King, C.P.T., Owner

A former marine and career educator, Charles had a long-time dream to open a first-class health club. He holds a doctorate in educational leadership, and he has served as a high school, middle school, and elementary administrator, completed a 4-year term on the Kershaw County School Board, and is an adjunct professor in educational leadership. Currently, he is the Associate Superintendent for Instruction for the Chester County School District. Charles states that his major goals for Atlas Gym is for it to be inviting, user-friendly, and service-oriented. Charles is certified through the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and X-Biking, and has attended a multitude of seminars and conferences in the area of health club ownership and fitness. He is a competitive racquetball player, competes in triathlons, survival runs, and was also a finisher in the Marine Corps Marathon. A big accomplishment for him was completing the 140.6 mile Ironman in Tempe, Arizona!

Amanda Peebles, Membership and Marketing Specialist/Instructor

Amanda is a lead member of the Atlas Team, and she takes care of most of the day-to-day operations of the gym. You will also see her instructing classes and training members from time to time. She exemplifies the team spirit and "we're here to help" trait that Atlas Gym is known to have. She is very personable and always ready to help our members.

Dale McCaskill, Training Coordinator/Certified Personal Trainer

Dale is a former college athlete and is a personal trainer at Atlas Gym. He is well-versed in many types of exercise, and he is also very knowledgeable about nutrition. He is an advocate and practitioner of cross-training, and the members who train with Dale never know what he may have them doing from
workout-to-workout. Dale also helps with the day-to-day operations of the gym.

Natalie Rush, Trainer/Instructor

Natalie is a Camden native and well known to our members. She brings a welcoming, positive personality to Atlas Gym. Natalie has many years of experience in private business and the fitness industry. She enjoys working out in her spare time, and she is the proud mom of three children.

Morgan Coughlin, Receptionist

You will most likely see Morgan behind the desk and assisting members at Atlas Gym. She enjoys the fitness environment and you will also see her working out during her off hours. She has a very pleasant personality and is always eager to help our members.

Jenn Mims, Receptionist

Jenn is new to Atlas as an employee, but has grown fast in the gym environment. She has a very outgoing personality and she is in constant motion helping our members.

Amy Sheheen, Certified Yoga Instructor/Personal Trainer

Amy instructs Yoga and cardio classes at Atlas Gym. Amy has been practicing yoga in 2005, and has YogaFit certification. She has been teaching for 5 years. A graduate of Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Communications, she is married to Vincent Sheheen and they have three sons. Amy is very involved in the community and her children’s public schools. She has served on several boards and commissions, and most recently she was on the local United Way Board. With a strong love of the arts, she enjoys painting and sculpting. She is also an avid reader. Most days, you will find Amy in her art studio in the Green Leaf Villas on Broad Street. She loves biking or walking her dogs around town. Amy enjoys the local farmer’s market, practicing yoga, and being in the kitchen cooking and baking. 

Lisa Casey, Certified Yoga Instructor

Lisa instructs Yoga and X-Biking at Atlas Gym. She has been studying yoga since 1997 and teaching since 2004. She is trained in beginner through advanced hatha-style yoga and in senior, children’s, prenatal, Yin and core strength yoga. She has studied at various studios throughout the US and Europe, and is a registered teacher with Yoga Alliance. Lisa's teaching style is an eclectic blend derived from the study of several yoga disciplines…she encourages without pushing and brings out the best in her students. When Lisa is not teaching, she enjoys spending time with her son, dogs, cats, fish and chickens. She loves to play tennis and the piano, read and write, and travel the world searching for new adventure!

Cameron Gill, Instructor

Cameron instructs the Kettlebell class at Atlas Gym, and it has proven to be a hit. He is a recent graduate of Clemson University and will soon be attending medical school.

Jennifer Watson, X-Biking Instructor

Jenn instructs group classes in cycling. She is very energetic and a super-nice person. You will see her regularly throughout the gym experimenting with new music for her rides. She is always striving to make herself and her classes better and more challenging. She truly practices what she preaches! She also enjoys running, and has completed several half-marathons. She is married to Van, and you will often see them around town running together.

Annette Wertz, Certified Zumba Instructor

Annette leads the Zumba classes at Atlas Gym. She is graduate of USC and a retired school teacher (Spanish). She has a very patient but energetic teaching style, and you will find everyone from beginners to experienced Zumba fans in her classes.

Annette Little, Certified Zumba Instructor

Annette also instructs Zumba at Atlas Gym. She is known for her energetic style and often has "themes" set for her classes.

Jonathan Ray, Certified Personal Trainer

A former rodeo bull-rider, Jonathan (also known as Jay) practices what he preaches as a personal trainer. He understands the importance of core strength and maintaining exercise as a lifestyle. He spends a lot of time in the gym perfecting his routines, and he is very passionate about helping members achieve their exercise goals.

Dr. Wendy King, Certified X-Biking Instructor

Wendy is certified as a group cycling instructor through Trixter, and it is definitely one of her passions. She is also a small-group training specialist, and is a devout student of proper diet and nutrition. By trade, Wendy is a veterinarian, but she is an avid group exercise leader and trainer, and runs several times per week. She has completed several survival runs and half-marathons, and loves to participate in 5K and 10K road races!
When she isn't practicing veterinary medicine or exercising, you will most likely find her in the garden, cooking gourmet food, or curled up with a good book with a pet in her lap.

Rebecca Owens, Receptionist

Rebecca is a receptionist at Atlas Gym, and has been at the gym since it opened. She is known for being very friendly and a great conversationalist. She is a talented artist, and her work can be seen throughout Kershaw County. She also works at Sports Connection, where she is an expert at screen printing.

Charlene Welch, Custodian

Charlene is responsible for the "deep" cleaning at the gym. She is very conscientious about her job and takes a lot of pride in her work. Members say Charlene is super-friendly and easy going.

Ben Kruger, Sanitation Specialist

Ben is known for keeping the equipment at the gym spotless and clean. He has been with Atlas Gym since it opened, and he has a great rapport with the members. His trademark smile is contagious and he always puts folks in a good mood. He is also a #1 Gamecock fan!
